CPG Labs is a subsidiary of CPG Corporation pte Ltd (CPG Corp). CPG Corp was formed in April
1999 with the corporatisation of the Singapore Public Works Department, a key organisation
responsible for providing multi-disciplinary building and engineering consultancy, quality
control/assurance and project management services in the physical development of modern Singapore.
CPG Corporation has the vision to be a leader in the region in developing and managing
infrastructure and building facilities.
The laboratory was set up in the 1950's and has an established reputation in the Singapore
construction industry. It is considered by the industry to be one of the premier laboratories
in the industry. CPG Labs has been involved in the quality control/assurance,
testing/instrumentation for numerous major projects in Singapore such as Changi Airport,
Mass Rapid Transit System, major expressways, major Government buildings, schools, as well as
various private sector projects.
CPG Labs is accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council under the Singapore Laboratory
Accreditation Scheme (SINGLAS) to ISO/IEC 17025. CPG Labs is also a Registered Soil Investigation
Contractor with the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore and registered as a Government
Supplier for Laboratory Testing, and Consultancy under Singapore's Ministry of Finance, Expenditure
and Procurement Policies Unit.
As of 1 st October 2001, CPG Labs operates three key businesses under the Laboratories Division,
Innovation Centre and Training Division. In 2004, Quality Assurance Management' Division was
formed as an additional key business focus.
CPG Labs prides itself as the partner of the construction industry. We work with our client to ensure quality
work and customer delight. CPG Labs has been involved in numerous projects not only in Singapore, but also
overseas, including Brunei, Cambodia, China, Dubai, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Laboratories Division
The Laboratories Division focuses on performing standard or customized quality control and
quality assurance tests. The division boasts staff with extensive experience and knowledge,
as well as state-of-art equipment and methods in various fields: pavement, geotechnical, materials,
non-destructive testing, instrumentation, investigation etc.
Innovation Centre (IC)
The core capabilities of the Innovation Centre are in the transfer of latest proven technology
to create innovation applications, and to enhance its customers' competitiveness regionally,
IC specializes in facilitating research and development of products and processes.
IC has a pool of specialists in System Integration, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Applications,
Civil & Geotechnical Engineering and Pavement Engineering, working in well-equipped laboratories.
They extend their roles to provide consultancy services to the industry in resolving day-to-day
problems through analysis and advanced characterization.
CPG Training Centre (CTC)
CTC was set up to provide niche engineering training programmes for the local and regional construction
industry. CTC believes in the sharing of knowledge through innovative educational programmes and where
appropriate, these include field trips and site visits to reinforce classroom theories.
CTC training programmes are developed in consultation with our team of senior staff. Expert speakers
and trainers are invited locally and from abroad, apart from drawing from our own pool of specialists
within the CPG Group.
The Training Centre also provides event organizing management services to clients for their product
launching, as well as seminars and conferences for the industry.
Quality Assurance Management
The QA Management Division applies quality assurance management to help developer, consultant and
contractor clients in achieving engineering quality objectives in construction projects. This is in
the form of Project Management reporting directly to the Client's Project Director.
In addition, the Division provides quality assurance site inspection services to help developer
achieve engineering and construction quality objectives in projects. This is in the form of Quality
Management Services reporting directly to the Client's Project Director or Client's designated project
manager.
The Division possesses niche engineering quality management capabilities in:
. structural steelwork to help the local construction industry achieve better quality in steelwork
construction through systems management
. concrete to help the local construction industry achieve better quality in concrete works through
designs and performance specifications
Quality Policy
CPG Labs is fully committed to providing professional services of the highest quality to our customers
and aim to provide such quality work consistently. We want to provide confidence to our customers of
our intended quality. To achieve these objectives, the company operates under a Quality System that is
accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council to the Singapore Laboratory Accreditation Scheme
(SINGLAS) and ISO/IEC 17025 Standard. The Quality System of the company and technical competency of
its staff are subjected to annual audits by external assessors.
To maintain a high standard of technical proficiency among its staff, the company participates
annually in various internationally recognised Proficiency Testing Programs and encourage continual
learning for all staff.
