Pavement Testing

Our Pavement Lab has acquired expertise and experience in testing difficult types of road mixes and custom-designed mixes such as the ‘Drainage” and ‘F1’ mix. Being the leading service provider for testing of asphalt premixes since our Public Works Department days, our equipment and procedures are constantly upgraded to the latest testing standards and practices.

The various tests carried out by our Pavement Laboratory include:

  • Bitumen Content Determination by Reflux, Centrifuge and Ignition Oven Methods

  • Automated logging of sample weights

  • Particle Size Determination of Asphalt mixes

  • Marshall’s Density (Relative Density)

  • Marshall’s Stability

  • Determination of Steel Slag Content

  • Los Angeles (LA) Abrasion Test on Marshall sample

  • Thickness of core

  • Density of core

  • Wheel Tracking Test

  • Site coring of laid asphalt

The laboratory is also equipped with computerized result-processing and dispatch facilities.

Wheel Tracking Test Method

The Pavement Laboratory  is also capable of investigating the resistance of asphalt mixes to rutting under repeated loading. It is done by simulating the effect of traffic conditions, whereby a loaded wheel is repeatedly passed across a sample under controlled conditions.
